At Nassau Elite Volleyball Club (NEVC), our mission is to provide athletes with an inclusive, competitive, and supportive environment where they can grow both on and off the court. We are passionate about helping young athletes reach their full potential while instilling lifelong values of teamwork, leadership, respect, and confidence.
Whether you’re new to volleyball or an experienced player looking to elevate your game, NEVC offers expert coaching, structured training, and a positive community that empowers athletes to succeed.
Nassau Elite Volleyball Club was founded in 2019 with the vision of creating a local program where young athletes could develop their volleyball skills in a supportive and competitive environment. What began as an opportunity for girls in the community to learn and grow in the sport has since evolved into a club that emphasizes excellence, teamwork, and personal development—both on and off the court
Our coaching staff is composed of passionate and experienced individuals who are dedicated to the sport of volleyball. They bring both knowledge and commitment to every practice and match, fostering an environment of respect, confidence, and teamwork. At NEVC, we focus on developing not only strong athletes but also well-rounded individuals who understand the value of being a productive team member.
Coach Damon, a Jacksonville, Florida native, was a multi-sport athlete in his youth, ultimately focusing on basketball at Englewood High School. He earned a basketball scholarship and chose to play at Florida State Community College.
After college, he discovered a passion for beach volleyball and went on to compete professionally throughout the 1980s and 1990s along the East Coast. Alongside his partner, Allen Coleman, the duo dominated the beach volleyball circuit for several years.
In 1996, Coach Damon moved to Yulee, where he raised three sons and a daughter. His daughter Tess’s interest in indoor volleyball reignited his own passion for the sport. He began coaching at the Sunsetters Club, where he worked with her team for several years.
When the Sunsetters dissolved in 2018, Coach Damon founded NEVC (Nassau Elite Volleyball Club) to provide a local option for girls’ volleyball in Nassau County—eliminating the need to travel to Jacksonville. Since then, NEVC has grown into a thriving program, offering young athletes a place to learn, grow, and compete.
Today, Coach Damon manages the club’s operations and continues to promote volleyball throughout the community. He believes the sport teaches teamwork, builds self-esteem, and fosters respect—values that are at the heart of NEVC’s mission.
Coach Hunter developed a passion for volleyball early on, inspired by watching his father compete in professional beach volleyball tournaments. While his love for the game truly ignited after his collegiate athletic career, his journey as a coach began in 2016.
Since then, Coach Hunter has had the opportunity to work alongside his father and learn from several exceptional mentors, including not only his father but also Bobby Fauls—former setter for the Men’s All-Navy Team—and Shann Brewington, who served as head coach of that same elite squad. JR Miller - who also brings extensive beach volleyball knowledge as well as coaching indoor National teams. These experiences have helped shape his coaching philosophy and deepen his understanding of the game.
With a background as a collegiate basketball player, Coach Hunter brings a unique perspective to the court. His experience at the college level has instilled in him a strong appreciation for the discipline, teamwork, and commitment required to succeed—not just as an athlete, but as a teammate and leader.
Looking ahead, Coach Hunter is excited to step into the role of Director for the upcoming season. He is eager to help shape the program’s future, support athlete development, and continue building a strong and competitive volleyball culture.
